Katie here, I shot my first wedding 43 days after my high school graduation. I dove right into google-ling, shadowing, studying, and learning every single thing I could about this craft I loved so much. Shout out to all the brides who trusted 18 year old me to document their day! Over the last 6 wedding seasons we have grown carefully and intentionally, following the Lord’s leading. At Katie Grace we are now passionate about serving both brides & business owners. Being cheerleaders, encouragers, and equippers to have the day you dream of whether you are the bride, or the photographer.
festive & family focused. We got married the weekend before Christmas in 2018!
Some of my favorite images are the ones of my grandparents that Niki Marie captured during the reception, and the shots of my 3 older sisters and I - my very favorite people!
find one source of inspiration (for me it was the bridesmaids dresses) and take it from there!
My hubbie Dan and I currently live in Downtown Grand Rapids in our historic apartment where we watch excessive amounts of netflix, eat Trader Joe's frozen meals regularly while I try to convince Dan to get a puppy.
Cheetos, coffee shops, office supplies, reading, studying business
Talking! Ha! My friends know I could chat with a brick wall, but on a wedding day this serves me well because I can make anyone feel comfortable in front of a camera! Don’t worry about how you are standing, looking, smiling - I’ll take good care of ya!
Hey there, I'm Lisa! I am the mom to four daughters, Katie being my youngest! I also have the joy of being a grandmother to eight sweet grandkids! I started with Katie from the beginning as her second shooter! My passion lies with the design, editing, and curating of photos and galleries.
My husband Tim and I will be celebrating our 36th wedding anniversary this year. Wow! That day seems like a long time ago, and I'm sure lots would be forgotten without pictures!
My favorite pictures are ones where we are feeding each other M&M's instead of cake. HaHa! I liked them better than cake!
Don't be afraid to be unique! Incorporate anything meaningful, no matter how small or silly it seems (M&M's). Don't worry "if this goes with that"! If you love it, it goes together!
Life today looks like spoiling my grandkids, rearranging my living room too many times, and soaking up all the design inspiration I can!
Following inspirational bloggers on Instagram, Chik-fil-A, and anything Enneagram!
On wedding days I love capturing all the beautiful details the bride has worked so hard to choose. I always keep my eye on all the things happening around our brides that she doesn't always get to see.
My hubs and I got married June 2018. Our wedding day was truly our most favorite day, there is nothing like having all your friends and family cheering you on as you celebrate forever!
One of my very favorite images was during our ceremony as my Dad handed me off to Nick. I still get goosebumps when I think about the sweet significance that this one image captures.
Consider what you and your fiance want your day to look like! For us, we wanted a laid back, God centered day of celebration with our family and friends! As you make your decisions, continue to remember what you want this day to be about!
Life with my new hubs is my greatest gift, the Lord sure has blessed me! We live in a teeny tiny apartment in downtown Grand Rapids, life currently is pretty busy as we are both finishing our business degrees! Weekends look like the two of us proudly finishing a pot of coffee, me laughing at Nick’s endless singing, watching random Office episodes that we’ve already seen too many times, and chips and salsa for dinner.
Early mornings, road trips, Lake Michigan, dinner parties, an extra cup of coffee, and a good ol’ workout.
Catching all the little details that make your photos perfect!
getting married the summer of 2009 was the beginning of the best years of my life that just keep getting better. Every bride I meet I instantly remember all those wonderful feelings and can’t help but share that excitement with them.
My husband Tim and I holding hands in the same place at the altar of the church that my parents were married, and that I grew up in, means a lot to me.
Make decisions that mean something to you.
Don’t just do it because everyone else does... It’s ok to mix it up or do away with things that don’t work for you or your fiancé.
All my wonderful memories of being a wife, photographer, and mommy of 3 are tied closely to our small and cozy house on the west side of Grand Rapids. Dance parties, Pizza, and family movie nights are a weekly occurrence here.
Painting & drawing, donuts, and the deep corner of the couch that swallows me whole- along with a massive blanket and cup of tea, of course.
To Serve is my main goal in all areas of my life and I pride myself on being able to anticipate the needs of all my brides. I work closely with a lot of different types of personalities during an exciting and sometimes stressful day and I like to think that I can befriend almost anyone I meet while juggling the very important job of wedding day photographer.
